The Almaty event opened with a surprise in the first round, when a qualifier took a set from the top seed in a tiebreak that lasted almost forty minutes. The result set the tone for the week, with long rallies and few easy points.

In the semifinals, the favourite struggled with the wind on the outside courts, while the eventual champion adjusted her toss and stayed patient on return games. The final was decided by a single break in the third set, and the trophy presentation took place on centre court under a light rain.

Attendance was the highest for any regional event this year, and organisers say the junior draw will grow next season. Full draws and scores are available in the tournament archive.
